SAMSUNG'S GALAXY S7, PROJECT VALLEY : FLEXIBLE DISPLAY RUMORS

Will Samsung's Galaxy S7 fold in half,  Report suggests flexible smartphone could go on sale next year. A new leaked report suggests that the handset, dubbed "Project Lucky" will have 3GB of RAM. Another Samsung project might bring about a veritable revolution at the beginning of next year. Project Valley promises to be the first foldable phone to hit the market and the concept definitely looks interesting and very promising.

South Korean website ETNews has said that Samsung has already preparing for massive demand for the Galaxy Note 5 and S7. A Samsung executive told the site:

“The expansion is inevitable because it has been announced that Samsung Electronics have requested of 8 million flexible panels per month for ‘Galaxy S7."

Intriguingly, while the source talked about 'flexible panels', there was no mention of the Galaxy S7 Edge, only the Galaxy S7. It could be that something has been lost in translation, but it could also be the case that Samsung wants to start integrating the flexible 'Edge' display into its standard Galaxy flagships.

It is not only smartphones set to get the flexible treatment, as bendy displays could have many uses, such as in smartbands and laptops, for example.

A spokesman from the industry said: ‘When flexible display technology is being used in e-books and laptops, which are substituted for publications, the concept of tiny portable PCs and e-books will be realised in reality.’

The report also mentioned that the Galaxy Note 5 will receive a flexible display.

The source added that the process has been postponed because Samsung needs to expand the factory (A3) manufacturing the displays.

Samsung is also working to ensure that Galaxy S6 Edge panels are being made at a sufficient rate to match the high demand for the phone, which is set to be released April 10 in the US and UK.

There is also a video that Korean company had shared  at The Society for Information Display in 2008 which showcased a prototype of foldable displays, you can take a look at the video below:
